To Mohican Swim & Dive Team families,

We’re only about 6 weeks from the start of the 2011 Swim Team season!   We will again be registering online this year and an email with more information and a link to register your swimmers and divers will be sent no later than May 15th.

Key swim team dates to keep in mind:

May 21 & 23th:  Most likely dates to confirm registration and pick-up team suits, etc.
May 23: Expected start of afternoon swim practices
June 11: Swim team time trials
June 18: First Dual meet
June 26 or July 10: Relay Carnival (date not yet set but will be a Sunday)
July 11: Kings Dominion (Monday)
July 12: Coaches Long Coarse meet
July 23: Divisional Championship meet
July 24: Swim & Dive Team Banquet
July 30: Relay All Stars
July 31: Individual All Stars

We are honored to have both Head Swim Team Coach, Gian Polignano and Assistant Head Coach, Annie O’Shea returning this year, along with a good mix of experienced and first year coaches.  As the season draws near I would expect a few words of encouragement coming from Coach Gian.

Of particular note, one Mohican swimmer is facing some health challenges this spring and could really use your support and encouragement.  Recently Florian Knollman was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is undergoing treatment at Walter Read Hospital.  Florian is coming off of an incredible season last summer and we hope that same competitive spirit will serve him well as he faces the challenges ahead.   Any form of encouragement or good wishes would be greatly appreciated and can be directed to Florian’s attention at 6406 Broad St, Bethesda Md 20816, or you can send emails to Florian’s mother, Barbara at bknollman[_AT_]usuhs.mil.

Please keep Florain in your thoughts and prayers and I know we all look forward to seeing him at the pool this summer.
