Becoming a Member

The Mohican Swimming Pool Association is a non-profit organization operating a swimming pool for the exclusive use of its members and their guests.  All applicants for membership must fill out the Waiting List Application and pay the fee ($50.00 currently).  In accordance with the pool’s bylaws, new memberships are offered first to those applicants residing in the area encompassed by the Capital Crescent Trail, the Potomac River, Goldsboro Road, and River Road, or in the Town of Glen Echo.  Applicants residing outside the area may be offered memberships after those living within the area have been contacted.

The current cost of a membership is $2200.00 (plus a $50.00 transfer fee). A membership may be returned to the Association at any time for the prevailing rate at the time. It may also be transferred to an adult descendant living within the boundaries, or to the new owner of the member’s house at the time of sale.

Currently there is a waiting list of people wishing to buy a membership that runs several years.  Memberships are offered to those on the list, in order of their position on the list.  Temporary memberships for one summer are offered first to those on the membership waiting list, in numerical order. When a membership is offered to you, if you decline, you may re-apply to the current waiting list by paying the re-application fee (currently $50.00).

Temporary Memberships

Temporary memberships for one summer at Mohican Pool become available as a current member elects not to use his membership for that season.  Temporary memberships are offered first to families on the waiting list to buy a membership, then to a secondary list consisting of people outside the boundaries, or those who do not wish to buy a membership, but are within the boundaries.  The temporary membership fees for both groups are the same.  The temporary membership fees for the summer of 2008 begin at $545.00 for two people (subject to change).  If you wish to apply for a temporary membership please fill out either the Waiting List Application or the Temporary Membership ONLY Application. You need only fill it out once. You will remain on the list as long as you continue to use a temporary membership or ask us to keep you on the list each year if you choose not to accept a temporary membership for a summer.  Offers for temporary memberships, with the applicable fees, are mailed in March, April and May of each year as our members decline the use of the pool for the season and we have slots available.
